Astros @ Rangers: Houston looks to bounce back in AL West battle
Astros @ Rangers MLB odds spreads and predictions
The Houston Astros leads the AL West by 7 games.
The Texas Rangers made up ground on the division-leading Astros with a 5-0 win on Thursday night..
Texas got on board in a hurry and Lance Lynn took care of the rest, scoring four runs in the first inning. Joey Gallo and Rougned Odor both contributed RBI doubles.
Lynn picked up in the second half of the season where he left off before the break, landing his major league-leading 12th win of the season after throwing seven shutout innings with 11 strikeouts.
Texas now trails the AL West by 8 games
When is it? Friday July 12th
What time is first pitch? 8:05 p.m. ET
Where is it being played? Globe Life Park in Arlington
Which channel is it on? AT&T SportsNet
Houston snapped a two-game winning streak after getting shut out by Rangers.
Most notably, Alex Bregmen left the game after taking a ground ball to the chin which required stitches. Bregman is considered day-to-day and is likely to not play on Friday night.
Bregmen went 1-for-1 with a walk prior to exiting the game. George Springer added a 2-for-4 night, but the Astros as a whole struggled against Lynn.
Astros @ Rangers Run Line
The Houston Astros are giving the Rangers 1.5 runs in this matchup.
Texas has been impressive at home this season to say the least, holding a 30-17 record.
Houston, however, is leading the season series with the Rangers six games to five, including four of the last five.
Although playing without Bregman will hurt, I like the Astros to get back on track with Gerrit Cole on the hill.
Take the Astros to cover and win this one outright.
Astros @ Rangers Moneyline
Think Houston will bouce back in Arlington? Betting $190 could win profit of $100.
Like the Rangers to pick up another win against the Astros? Spending $55 would win $100 profit.
Astros @ Rangers Over/Under
The over/under in this one is set at 10 total runs.
My final score prediction: Texas Rangers 3, Houston Astros 5.
Take the under in this matchup.
Where the game will be won or lost
Gerrit Cole takes the mound for the Houston Astros, and he'll look to continue his recent dominance. Cole has won three consecutive starts, and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight consecutive starts.
In his last outing, Cole struckout nine in seven shutout innings while allowing only three hits and two walks against the Angels.
Jesse Chavez has the start for the Rangers, and he's had some highs and lows since moving from the bullpen to the rotation. He struggled in his last start, allowing four earned runs on five hits in five innings against the Twins.
Chavez sports a 3-4 record with 59 strikeouts and a 3.30 ERA.
