Cardinals @ Mets: New York hosts St. Louis at Citi Field on Friday night
Cardinals @ Mets MLB odds spreads and predictions
The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets both sit in third place in their respective divisions the NL Central and East.
The New York Mets lead 4-2 heading into the ninth inning with their premiere close Edwin Diaz entering the game.
Diaz recorded two outs before allowing an RBI single and the game-tying double which resulted in his third blown save of the season. The game would get suspended from run in between innings and will pick up on Friday night in the bottom of the ninth.
New York was in control for most of the game with ace Jacob DeGrom on the hill. DeGrom went seven innings allowing two earned on six hits with eight strikeouts.
Michael Conforto gave New York a 2-1 on a two-run home run in the third innings, but proceeded to strike out in each of his three other plate appearances.
The Mets then retook the lead 3-2 off the bat of Dominic Smith who hit an RBI single.

The Cardinals were quiet for most of the game but responded in the spots they needed.
After trailing 2-1, Paul DeJong brought the game back even with his 11th home run of the season.
St. Louis' bats would go cold until the ninth inning where Kolton Wong would strike with two outs to cut the game within one run with an RBI single.
Harrison Bader followed by contributing his third hit of the night, ripping the game-tying RBI double before being thrown out on his way to third.
Cardinals @ Mets Runline
New York is giving St. Louis 1.5 runs in this matchup.
The Mets bullpen has been shaky to say the least, and the overall team pitching staff hasn't been much better. New York's team ERA is 4.53 which is the 13th worst in MLB.
St. Louis has been on and off themselves for different reasons posting an even .500 record on the season at 33-33.
New York should be able to right the storm at home, but the Cards have a tendency to be the Mets' Achilles heel and I don't expect that to change on Friday.
Take the Cardinals with the runs.
Cardinals @ Mets Moneyline
Think St. Louis can win game two of the series? Betting $85 could win profit of $100.
Like New York to pick up the win at home? Spending $125 would win $100 profit.
Cardinals @ Mets Over/Under
The over/under for this matchup is set at 8.5 points.
Final score prediction: St. Louis Cardinals 3, New York Mets 4
Take the under in this game.
Where the game will be won or lost
Friday night's pitching matchup will be Steven Matz for the Mets and Daniel Ponce de Leon for the Cardinals.
Ponce de Leon has made just one start this season, but did well in the debut throwing five innings of two hit baseball allowing just one run while striking out seven in a no decision.
Matz on the other hand has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride over his 12 starts. His last outing happened to be his strongest outing as Matz struck out 10 hitters in six innings pitched while allowing two earned runs on six hits against the Colorado Rockies.
