Yankees @ Twins MLB odds spreads and predictions

New York leads the AL East by 10 games; Minnesota leads the AL Central by 3 games.

Two of the three highest-scoring offenses in baseball were on full display on Tuesday night in Minnesota as the Yankees and Twins combined for 26 runs and 35 hits in 10 innings. New York won the back and fourth extra innings battle 14-12.

Didi Gregorious had himself a career day batting 5-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, and 7 RBIs.

The Yankees trailed most of the game, but scored five runs in the top of the eighth and two runs in both the ninth and 10th to finally put away the Twins. Aside from Gregorious, Aaron Hicks notably launched a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the ninth to give New York the lead.

Gleyber Torres then hit the most important go-ahead run in the 10th with an RBI single which scored Gregorious from second base.

The lowdown

The Minnesota Twins refused to go away and forced extra innings after combining to score three runs in the eighth and ninth.

Miguel Sano was responsible for two of those runs, and five runs in total after batting 2-for-5 with two home runs and 5 RBIs. Sano hit a three-run blast in the fourth, then crushed a two-run homer in the eighth.

Jorge Polanco also had a big day at the plate batting 3-for-5 with a double, home run, and 3 RBIs.

Yankees @ Twins Runline

The Twins are giving the Yankees 1.5 runs.

The offenses for both New York and Minnesota have been impressive to say the least over these last two games. The Bronx Bombers have totaled 20 runs and hit five home runs; the Twins have totaled 20 runs and hit eight home runs.

Heading into the rubber game on Wednesday night, the Yankees will be the underdog. New York hasn't been the underdog much this season, but have still managed a winning record at 11-7.

With the way this series has gone, all you can expect is tightly-contested high-scoring games between these teams. Wednesday night shouldn't be any different, and I'll the take extra runs where ever I can get them.

Take the Yankees with the points.

Where the game will be won or lost

The Bronx Bombers call on J.A. Happ in the rubber game of this series, and he has been relatively consistent for New York over the last three games. Happ has lasted five innings and allowed two or fewer runs in each of those outings.

Most recently, Happ picked up his eighth win of the season (8-5) against the Colorado Rockies. The left-hander struck out eight in five innings andallowed two runs on eight hits.

Jake Odorizzi takes the hill for Minnesota, and the seventh-year veteran has been solid this season. Odorizzi ranks second in the majors with 11 wins (11-4) and holds an ERA of 3.18 with 101 strikeouts.

In his last outing, Odorizzi allowed three earned on five hits and two walks in five innings againt the Oakland A's.
