The Boston Celtics are eyeing a four-game winning streak when they take on the New York Knicks on Thursday night.
With wins over the New Orleans Pelicans and the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Celtics made it three wins in a row when they came away with a 118-109 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
Gordon Hayward had his coming out party for the first time in a Celtics uniform as he piled up a team-high 30 points to go along with nine rebounds and eight assists. Starting point guard Kyrie Irving added 21 points and nine assists, and Jayson Tatum contributed 19 points and nine rebounds for the Celtics in the win.
The Celtics will play for the first time since Saturday when they host the New York Knicks on Thursday night.
The Knicks will look to rebound after they suffered a 110-107 loss to the Washington Wizards on Monday night.
Tim Hardaway Jr., by far the Knicks' best player so far this season, piled up 20 points, Emmanuel Mudiay contributed 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists, and Enes Kanter chipped in 13 points to go along with 16 rebounds for the Knicks.
The Knicks are currently 8-17 this season and are in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.
Knicks vs Celtics Spread
The Celtics are giving the Knicks 12.5 points in this matchup.
Roll with the hot hand at home and take Boston in this one. The Celtics will undoubtedly win their fourth game in a row and I believe they will do it in dominant fashion.
The Celtics are just way too deep for the Knicks and I think it will show on Thursday night.
Knicks vs Celtics Over/Under
The over/under in this basketball game is set at 217.5 total points.
My final score prediction for this matchup: Boston Celtics 115, New York Knicks 100.
Take the under in this one.
Where the game will be won or lost
In Boston's last game, I predicted that Hayward would need to come up big for the Celtics to come away with a win over Minnesota.
And boy did he show up or what? Like I said above, Hayward put together an incredible performance when he dropped 30 points to go along with nine rebounds and eight assists. When the Celtics were struggling early on, it was actually Hayward's idea for him to come off the bench to provide a much-needed spark for the struggling Celtics.
Since then, the Celtics have been performing like the team we knew they could be. Some thought that the Celtics would run away with the Eastern Conference crown, especially since LeBron James made his way over to the Western Conference, but winning the East won't be so easy for the Celtics, who now have to deal with Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors, and a three-headed monster in Philadelphia, which features Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler.
As of right now, the Celtics are on the right track. They have the coach, the players and the personnel to pull everything together and make a run come June.
