Trail Blazers @ Nuggets: Denver hosts Portland for Game 7 of the Western Conference Semis

Trail Blazers @ Nuggets NBA odds spreads and predictions

Denver looks to reach the Western Conference Finals for the fourth time in franchise history.

The Portland Trail Blazers forced Game 7 after a convincing home win over the Denver Nuggets 119-108.

Damian Lillard proved to be as good as advertised in elimination games. Lillard was lights out shooting nearly 50 percent from the field while leading the team with 32 points, shooting 6-for-13 from three-point range with five assists and three rebounds.

CJ McCollum bounced back in a big way following a quiet 12-point performance in Game 5. McCollum had 30 points on 12-of-24 shooting with six rebounds and three assists.

Portland's biggest X-factor in Game 6 was the resurgence of Rodney Hood. He came off the bench and contributed 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including three-for-four from three-point range.

The lowdown

The Denver Nuggets lead 34-26 after the first quarter in Game 6, but watched that lead slip away as they failed to win another quarter for the remainder of the night.

Nikola Jokic was in foul trouble early on, but still managed to put together a near triple-double with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists on 10-15 shooting.

The Joker has had a monster series so far averaging 26.8 ppg, 14.0 rpgm and 8.7 apg.

Jamal Murray added a double-double of his own scoring 24 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Trail Blazers @ Nuggets Spread

Denver is giving Portland 5.5 points in this matchup.

Both teams have been able to sneak out a road win in this series, but it will be difficult for Portland to pull out another win.

Last time out with Denver for Game 5, Jokic went absolutely off scoring a game-high 25 points with 19 rebounds and six assists.

However, if there is one thing working in Portland's favor is that Lillard will be on their side. Although Denver will be in the driver's seat, I'm taking Portland to turn heads and advance to the West Finals.

Take the Trail Blazers with the points.

Take the over in this game.

Where the game will be won or lost

Defense will be the key to the game on Sunday.

Portland tightened up defensively in Game 6 after allowing Denver to shoot nearly 50 percent from the field in Game 5, holding the Nuggets under 40 percent from both the field and beyond the arc.

In Game 2, the Trail Blazers' only win at Denver, Portland held the Nuggets to under 35 percent shooting from the field and just 20 percent from three-point range.

For Denver, ideally they'd like to follow the game plan from their 26-point Game 5 win. The Nuggets flipped the script and took both Lillard and McCollum out of the game, holding Portland to 36 percent shooting from the field and 27 percent from beyond the arc.
