Jets vs Bills: Rookie QBs Allen, Darnold set for AFC East showdown
Jets vs Bills NFL odds, spreads and predictions
When is it? Sunday December 9th
What time is kickoff? 1:00 p.m. ET
Where is it being played? New Era Field
Which channel is it on? CBS
The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills are set to square off for a second time this season in Week 14.
The Bills fell at the hands of the Miami Dolphins, 21-17, last Sunday.
Despite the loss, the Bills should feel encouraged about rookie quarterback Josh Allen who was back under center.
Against the Dolphins, Allen completed 18-of-33 passes for 231 passing yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Allen also had nine carries for 135 rushing yards, as he continued to show he can make plays outside of the pocket with his feet.
Due to injury, Allen wasn't available when the Bills and Jets last played.
Defensively, the Bills are one of the best in the NFL and they will look to attack the Jets' offense once again.
The Bills sacked Jets quarterback Josh McCown three times, and they intercepted him two more times in the ball game.
Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold is expected back for New York, which will set up an interesting matchup between the two rookie quarterbacks.
The Green Bay Packers fired head coach Mike McCarthy after their pathetic loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week, and I wouldn't be shocked if Jets head coach Todd Bowles is the next to go, especially if the Jets don't avenge their embarrassing 41-10 loss to Buffalo back in Week 10.
The Jets fell for the sixth time in a row when they lost 26-22 to the Tennessee Titans in Week 13.
Like I said above, rookie quarterback Darnold is expected to be back under center for the Jets for the first time since Week 9 due to a foot injury. If for some reason he can't play, McCown will be back as the starting quarterback.
If the Jets want to be successful against the Bills, they will need to turn to the running game featuring half back Isaiah Crowell, who piled up 98 rushing yards on 21 carries against the Titans last week.
Jets vs Bills Spread
The Buffalo Bills are giving the Jets 3.5 points in this matchup.
I expect this to be a tight one. Take the Jets with the 3.5 points. I believe they will rebound tremendously and I think Darnold coming back from his injury will give their offense a significant boost.
I ultimately believe the Bills win this game, but by a field goal and nothing more.
Jets vs Bills Over/Under
The over/under in this one is set at 38.5 total points.
My final score prediction: Buffalo Bills 23, New York Jets 20.
Roll with the over in this football game.
Jets vs Bills Moneyline
If you're thinking about rolling with the Buffalo Bills, you'd have to lay out $180 to win a $100 bet.
A $100 bet on the Jets would get you winnings of $150.
Take the Buffalo Bills moneyline bet.
Where the game will be won or lost
I'm interested to see this rookie quarterback matchup between New York Jets signal caller Darnold and Buffalo Bills quarterback Allen.
Yes, we all know this game is going to come down to the defensive side of the football, especially since the Jets and Bills are among the best in the NFL, however, I'm really excited to see these two young gunslingers lock horns for the first time in their careers.
Since the Jets took Darnold over Allen in last year's NFL Draft, I believe Allen will have an entire career playing with a chip on his shoulder, especially when he faces the Jets.
Look for this matchup to be the first of many between both quarterbacks.
