The Washington Redskins/Philadelphia Eagles Monday night matchup is a big deal in Week 13.
Last week, the Eagles overcame a five-point deficit entering the fourth quarter against the New York Giants, and they came away with a 25-22 victory to remain in contention for the NFC East crown.
Quarterback Carson Wentz completed 20-of-28 passes for 236 passing yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, and running back Josh Adams piled up 84 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown on 22 carries in the ball game.
Wentz has at least 300 passing yards in two of his previous three meetings against the Redskins, and he should continue to have success on Monday night.
Washington's pass defense is ranked 23rd in the league, allowing 260.9 passing yards per game.
Eagles tight end Zach Ertz will look to once again have a big game. Ertz had 91 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven receptions against the Giants. The All-Pro tight end leads the Eagles in receiving yards (895) and catches (84) this season.
The Redskins are on a two-game losing streak. Their latest was a 31-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas.
It was quarterback Colt McCoy's first start, who is replacing the injured Alex Smith.
McCoy completed 24-of-38 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns, but he had three interceptions in the game. Despite all of the negativity surrounding the Redskins, they are still in contention for the NFC East title.
Washington will rely on running back Adrian Peterson to shoulder most of the load moving forward. Peterson only had 35 rushing yards on 12 carries against the Cowboys, so he'll look to have a bounce back performance against the Eagles.
The Redskins are seventh in the league averaging just 1.1 turnovers per game, but McCoy had three interceptions against the Cowboys, so an increased workload for Peterson will only benefit Washington.
The Redskins are averaging 117.7 rushing yards per game this season.
Redskins vs Eagles Spread
The Eagles are giving the Redskins 6.5 points.
Nearly 60 percent of the public money is currently on the Eagles -6.5 points in this one.
I believe the Philadelphia Eagles will ultimately come away with the win on their home turf on Monday night, however, I believe the Redskins will definitely give them one helluva football game.
Take the Redskins getting the 6.5 points in this one. If you can buy a point to make it more than a touchdown, definitely do so.
Very rarely do these NFC East rivals win in dominating fashion over the other, so you can definitely expect a close battle in Philadelphia.
Redskins vs Eagles Over/Under
The over/under is set at 45 total points.
Over the Eagles' last four games, just about 67 percent of the bets taken on total points involving the Eagles were on the over coming out. Over the Redskins' last four games, 66 percent of the bets taken on total points were also on the over coming out.
My final score prediction for this matchup: Philadelphia Eagles 28, Washington Redskins 24.
I'm heading with the public perception on this one. Take the over in this football game.
Redskins vs Eagles Moneyline
If you're thinking about rolling with the Eagles in this one, you'd have to put out $275 to win a $100 bet.
A $100 bet on the Redskins, would get you winnings of $225.
I would roll with the Philadelphia moneyline bet in this one.
Where the game will be won or lost
Here are a couple of Star Stack Promotions for the Redskins vs. Eagles matchup this Monday night.
The two bets that are enticing are taking Eagles tight end Zach Ertz and running back Josh Adams to each score a touchdown to go along with an Eagles victory. The second bet I like involves the Redskins. A touchdown from tight end Jordan Reed, and a score from running back Adrian Peterson to go along with a Redskins win.
Outside of the quarterback play from both Eagles signal caller Carson Wentz and Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy, the four players above are going to be critical to each team's succes on Monday night.
Ertz is the security blank for the Eagles in their offense, and they will also need to establish a running game with Adams if they want to have success moving the football. On the other hand, McCoy will need to rely on Reed as well as the future Hall of Fame running back in the backfield if the Redskins wants to have success getting into the end zone.
Both teams will look to these critical components of their teams as they look to establish themselves in the NFC East, especially after a huge Dallas Cowboys win over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night.
